The department has one of the finest and updated laboratories & infrastructure in Rajasthan.

At the core of Home Science courses is a deep comprehension of the science of living. These courses are designed to facilitate ‘better living’ by integrating an array of sciences and humanities, promoting an interdisciplinary approach. This approach aims to enhance the human environment, manage resources efficiently, and foster optimal family nutrition and child development. 

History Of The Department

The Department of Home Science at MJRP University has a rich legacy of nurturing young minds in the art and science of community sciences. Since its inception, the department has been dedicated to advancing the knowledge and skills of students in the field of Home Science. Established in 2009, it has consistently evolved to meet the changing needs and challenges of modern living.

Our vision is to be a leader in Home Science education and research, shaping individuals who contribute significantly to the well-being of families and communities. We aim to empower our students with the knowledge, skills, and values necessary to excel in various aspects of life, physical and mental health, nutrition, and family dynamics.

Laboratories

Our department boasts state-of-the-art infrastructure, including specialized labs that play a pivotal role in our students’ academic and practical development. Each lab serves a unique purpose, emphasizing the importance of experiential learning.

Food & Nutrition Lab

The lab is newly renovated and equipped with modern instruments that enable students to explore the science of nutrition, meal planning, and dietary analysis.

The practical knowledge of therapeutic cooking, mass cookery, food preservation, culinary skills, and product development contributes to their understanding of healthier food choices, and skill training while also motivating for entrepreneurial development. 

Textiles and Clothing Lab

Proficiency in textiles and clothing is vital for enhancing personal and family aesthetics and get practical knowledge of the field. Our facilities, furnished with state-of-the-art and up-to-date machinery, empower them to unleash their creative prowess and stay abreast of the latest advancements in technology.”

Child Development Lab

This lab provides opportunities for students to study child behavior, psychology, and their development and work in close unison with the community.

It allows one to have experiential learning where the theoretical knowledge could get a practical platform.  As the lab works in close connection with Ambassay Nursery School, our students get opportunities for hands-on experience of working with children while upgrading their skills of counseling and learning. 

Home Management & Extension Lab

This lab offers a workplace for students to work in a group and learn to explore the principles of effective home management and interior design. Also, it serves as a hub for community engagement and outreach programs that promote social responsibility and community well-being.
